Gas Solar Biomass

Wood: an environmentally friendly fuel for the future

The trees with energy supplied by the sun absorb CO2 (I), indispensable for their growth. The decomposition of the wood releases the same amount of CO2 into the atmosphere (II). The combustion of wood emits the same amount of CO2. Using wood for heating and hot water production respects the same natural cycle that has gone on for millions of years with the natural decomposition of the wood itself. Wood is therefore a renewable and ecological energy source, because it does not increase the level of carbon dioxide (CO2), which causes the greenhouse effect, in the atmosphere. Wood is inexhaustible; it is thus possible to affirm that it is one of the energy sources of the future. Wood is an economical fuel that guarantees substantial savings compared to traditional fuels: methane, LPG, diesel.

The high quality of combustion leads to very high efficiency and excellent operation even in extreme conditions

The particular shape of the heat exchanger of our fireplace, with 3 patented smoke turns, guarantees exceptional yields of over 80%, which remain high in all operating conditions, high flame, low flame or embers. This, together with the special patented combustion air regulation system (see Fig. 2), allows a complete combustion of the wood and a perfect draft even in the most difficult conditions, ensuring total absence of fumes in the environment. The fireplace door can be vertically concealed or with a side opening for maximum practicality in loading wood.

Using a large quantity of hot water in reduced dimensions affords a high performance guaranteed over time.

The large thermal flywheel on the primary circuit and the special finned heat exchanger with a large surface guarantee an enormous quantity of hot water without waiting times, the two withdrawals at the same time are a solid reality. The excellent insulation in rock wool of the wood-burner guarantees an abundant production of sanitary water even several hours after the chimney has been switched off.

Great simplicity of connection and perfect integration between boilers and wood-burner

Heating and producing hot water with a wood-burner implies the presence of a person who periodically replenishes the wood. This is normally considered a defect by some users with special needs (e.g.: families in which nobody stays at home during the day for work or study needs) or by those who may occasionally be away from home for a few days and want to find it warm again on their return. A combination of the wood-burner with a gas wall-mounted boiler running on methane or LPG completely eliminates this problem. Thanks to their characteristic of being able to operate in open tank systems, our gas boilers can be connected to a wood-burner without the aid of complicated devices, such as motorized diverter valves, plate exchangers, thermostats, etc... Both in heating and in the production of hot water, the boiler works automatically running alongside or substituting the wood-burner when this is not able to ensure sufficient heat production (e.g. during the night or if no wood is loaded for an extended period, etc...). This combination leads to maximum exploitation of the heat supplied by wood with minimum gas consumption, without any renunciation of domestic comfort. As a further integration, a solar panel can be added, guaranteeing the contribution of the heat given by the sun.

Firewood

To obtain a complete combustion of wood with very high yields and to limit the cleaning of the wood-burner, it is necessary to burn dry wood with a percentage of humidity between 15% and 20% (on average 2 years of drying in a dry and ventilated place). Wood that has not dried properly and/or for a short period of time may have very high humidity percentages, even above 50%. This limits performance causing the formation of soot, making frequent cleaning necessary. The wood that ensures the best performance of the fireplace stove is beech, oak or hornbeam.

Practicality and ease of installation

The feet of the wood-burner are adjustable in height and have a base that easily adapts to non-flat surfaces. The hot and cold water connections are on the top part of the chimney and do not have a compulsory connection. The one and a quarter-inch heating and return lines of the heating circuit are present on both sides of the wood-burner, as well as the sleeves for the probe well. The one-quarter-inch safety hose connection is at the top, in the middle.
